TimeControl 2.1 Upgrade Released!

Popular Timesheet system for project managers now upgraded to version 2.1

MONTREAL - May 1, 1996 - HMS Software has begun shipping TimeControl 2.1 for Windows. This popular timesheet system has now been upgraded to include a number of enhancements specifically designed to improve its ability to integrate in a project environment.

TimeControl is a distributed timesheet system designed specifically for project managers. A stand-alone system, TimeControl is pre-configured to integrate with popular project control systems such as Welcom Software's Open Plan®, or Cobra®, or Microsoft's MS Project®.

"TimeControl is designed to serve two areas of the organization simultaneously." says Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS. "On one side we need to roll up timesheet data for the Payroll Department so staff can be properly paid. On the other, we have the Project Control Group who need to look at timesheet data project-by-project to determine how much labour has been used to status particular tasks."

Enhancements to this version of TimeControl include new functionality for integrating with project control systems as well as enhanced functionality of features already in the software.

New Functionality for linking to both Schedule and Cost Control

TimeControl 2.1's ability to integrate with scheduling systems has been vastly enhanced. The system now includes an extensive Cost/Schedule Link Table which defines how data will be linked from the timesheet system back to either the schedule system, the cost system, or both. For organizations involved in integrated Cost/Schedule project control, this allows TimeControl to be fully integrated on both sides of the integration.

Integration with Microsoft Project

TimeControl 2.1 includes new functionality for integrating with Microsoft Project. The system uses OLE2 automation to update valid TimeControl charge codes and to update actual resource data back in the Microsoft Project file. Using OLE2 brings TimeControl 2.1 up to date with Microsoft's latest technology for desktop application integration.

Improved Security

TimeControl 2.1 includes enhancements to it's already extensive security environment. Organized hierarchically, TimeControl already structures access to functionality based on up to 4 security profiles. Now additional functionality allows TimeControl administrators to further control which employee records and which charge code records can be accessed. New audit trail functions allow the Administrator to track any changes made in all ancillary table. Administrators can now also customize security profiles, determining which reports are made available at each level.

Enhanced Reporting

TimeControl 2.1 includes new customizing features in the Reporting Module. Administrators can create ad-hoc reports using the TimeControl Report Writer by selecting fields to be included in reports through a menu-driven system. These customized reports can now be saved and included in a report list. The graphical logo on TimeControl's reports can now be altered by the user to match the company's own logo.

New Backup/Restore/Archival Functions

TimeControl 2.1 includes new functions to backup and restore data. This function can be used by the Administrator to ensure that data integrity is maintained or that historical data that is no longer required is archived and then removed the system.

TimeControl 2.0 users with a current maintenance contract will receive an upgrade to TimeControl 2.1 at no additional cost.

Pricing for TimeControl 2.1 for Windows starts at $595 for a four-user license. TimeControl 2.1 for Windows is available for shipping immediately.
