Ontario Government lists HMS Software as a Vendor of Record
Government program will enable HMS to deploy its products and services more rapidly within Ontario Government
Montreal July 25, 2005 - HMS Software, a leading provider of project management and enterprise timesheet solutions, has been approved as a "Vendor of Record" by the Ontario Provincial Government. This government program enables this Canadian province to pre-validate certain vendors who have services or products that can be procured by the government under certain conditions. Many contracts under $750,000 are awarded within the Vendor of Record program.
"We're thrilled about this new status for HMS Software," said Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS. "Our Ontario office has been working on this for over a year and the award of Vendor of Record status for HMS is the result of a team effort."
The VOR program is designed to allow government offices within the Ontario Government to purchase small to mid-size mandates of services or products with less stringent bidding process. When contracts below $750,000 are to be awarded by the government, they have the option to use the Vendor of Record process which ensures that all the vendors listed have already passed the many due diligence criteria used by the procurement departments of the government.
"As a specialist in Enterprise Project Management and Enterprise Timesheet Systems we are often called upon to assist provincial government departments with a rapid response," said Ken Edwards, manager of HMS Software's Burlington, Ontario offices. "Now being part of the Vendor of Record program means we can assist those offices in a much more timely manner."
Vendors of Record are divided into numerous categories. HMS has been listed as a supplier of IT Services and products.
"HMS maintains two types of business which are of interest to the Ontario Government," explains Vandersluis. "First, we assist organizations with the deployment of Microsoft Project Server and the setup of enterprise project management environments. We are also a software publisher. Our enterprise timesheet system TimeControl is designed to link to both project management systems such as Microsoft Project, Primavera and Open Plan and to Finance Systems such as Oracle, SAP and Great Plains."
This new status for HMS will allow it to extend its public sector profile. HMS already counts among its clients organizations such as the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Industry and Trade, the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Canadian Space Agency. As part of the Vendor of Record program HMS will be able to access a much larger number of bids and proposals for enterprise project management work within the Ontario government. "What's great about the VOR program is the ability to move through the bidding and award process much faster," explains Edwards. "If we can be more effective serving our clients, that's good for everyone."
