HMS releases major update to TimeControl Industrial

International Leader in timesheet systems releases major update to the industrial version of its popular timesheet system

Montreal, April 8, 2009 - HMS Software, an internationally recognized leader in enterprise project management and enterprise timesheet systems has announced today the release of version 5.1 of TimeControl Industrial (TCi). Building upon its already established TimeControl timesheet system, TCi is targeted at industries where there are both back office and field staff who may have access to computers in order to complete their timesheets. "TimeControl Industrial has proven itself in the market for the last 2 years," says Chris Vandersluis, President of HMS Software. "This release is significant and reflects input from both our own Research and Development and our existing TimeControl and TimeControl Industrial clients." TimeControl Industrial includes functionality which makes it ideal for use in heavy industry, in construction, in mining or in shutdown and asset maintenance environments including:

Crew Entry

Aside from the weekly timesheet that is designed for back office workers, TimeControl Industrial's Crew Entry interface allows crews to be assembled and then their time entered for the entire crew at once. Blank timesheets can be carried by the foreman or supervisor and then the timesheet for the entire crew is entered at one time. The Crew Entry timesheet can be done each day, each shift or for an entire week at a time. Material Management TimeControl Industrial supports Material usage entry. Aside from labor entries which list the hours and costs associated to personnel working on a project, there are often non-labor resources that are used. The Material Management system in TimeControl Industrial allows entries of other resources such as materials, equipment, rentals, even costs to be tracked. The TimeControl rates system has been extended from the in TimeControl Industrial to allow rates to be defined for any type of resource, not just hours.

Complex Rates

TimeControl Industrial includes a completely new approach to rate management. Aside from the existing Rate system which was already revolutionary in the classic versions of TimeControl, this new system allows for the complex rates that are often found in industrial situations. This includes escalated rates, rates which must support premiums for certain kinds of work and more. Literally millions of possible rate combinations can be supported.

New Functionality

"This update to TimeControl Industrial is quite significant," said Stephen Eyton-Jones, HMS Software's Director of Technical Services. "We know from this work in the field that we have a strong product for the industrial marketplace." Included among the many new features in TimeControl Industrial 5.1 are:

Enhanced turn-around report for crews and crew members

We've added new features to the report-generator that creates the blank turn-around documents used by foremen and supervisors in the field for taking down TimeControl Industrial data.

Cascading User Defined Fields

User Defined Fields can now be structured in a cascading definition where a User Defined Field in the timesheet or crew timesheet can be dependent on another. For example, if you pick a location in field one and then only the field values that are appropriate to that location show up in field two.

Enhanced Materials/Equipment Entry with a new Worksheet tab

TimeControl's Material and Equipment entry screen has been significantly enhanced and now also includes a worksheet tab. This allows you to do quick summaries by rate, project or charge to validate your data entry.

Extended Material/Equipment Rates

Materials/Equipment entry has now been significant enhanced with the provision of the Extended Rates system for Materials and Equipment. This provides for multi-field-matching, and the possibility of thousands of possible rates for materials.

Multi-employee Debit / Credit adjustments

When there are a large volume of timesheet records and a small number of entry clerks creating those records, the need for rapid adjustments of multiple records becomes much more important. For this reason, TimeControl now includes a multi-employee Debit/Credit/Adjustment feature that lets Administrators adjust incorrect entries for multiple timesheets and multiple employees on a single screen.

Many other improvements

There are numerous other improvements specific to TimeControl Industrial that are part of version 5.1 including: Extended Rate Import, Social Insurance Number encryption, Re-link historic records in the Employee and Charge tables, Enhanced Security with INSERT control, Enhanced Extended Rate Table Security and, Enhanced Extended Tables with closed projects hidden based on settings.

The TimeControl Industrial product carries the same robust functionality included in the other editions of TimeControl including links to Project Management products like Microsoft Project and Project Server and the Primavera line of Project Management products. TimeControl can serve as the time and attendance, time and billing and project status timesheet simultaneously.

TimeControl Industrial pricing varies by volume. A 100-employee system would be priced at $15,000.
