Montréal, Québec March 7, 2002 - HMS Software, a leading provider of project management products and services, takes the integration of their enterprise timesheet with Microsoft Project, a step further today by announcing the seamless integration of TimeControl with the Microsoft Project interface. The updated menu and log in structure now allow users of Microsoft Project Server to see TimeControl directly through Microsoft Project Server's web menu.

"We know there are millions of Microsoft Project users worldwide who have become accustomed to the Microsoft interface," says Chris Vandersluis, president of HMS Software. "We have been working directly with Microsoft personnel for the last several months to ensure that TimeControl's enterprise timesheet functionality be woven directly into the Web interface that is part of Microsoft Project Server. Now that the menu structures are completely transparent, Project users can work within the Server web access interface alone. All TimeControl functionality is available through the Project views."

HMS Software originally developed a data link between TimeControl and Microsoft Project in 1995. Now that the menu and log in are integrated, the movement between the two products is seamless. "Microsoft Project users don't even know they're using TimeControl, says Stephen Eyton-Jones, HMS Software's Director of Technical Services. "The TimeControl menu just seems like another part of Microsoft Project."

The seamless integration of TimeControl with the Microsoft Project interface extends the power of the Microsoft solution directly into core financial systems. The TimeControl timesheet system is selected for use with Microsoft Project when an organization has to collect labor hours to not only update Project Server but also corporate finance systems such as payroll, billing and job costing. While TimeControl's data has already been integrated, being able to work inside the MS Project menu and log in structure enables integrators to provide a single solution under the Microsoft umbrella.

"TimeControl is designed to share data with Microsoft Project on the project side and major ERP finance packages such as SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Baan and JD Edwards on the finance side, says Vandersluis. "This provides corporations with the best of both worlds. On the one hand, Project Managers can get the task-by-task updates they need to be effective, and on the other, Finance can have an auditable record of where money is being spent which allows them to make more informed and cost-effective decisions. In this day of accountability, combining the strengths of both Microsoft Project and TimeControl make for a powerful and successful enterprise solution.

About Microsoft Project

The Microsoft Project 2002 product family includes offerings tailored to customers' project management needs. Microsoft Project Professional, Microsoft Project Server and Microsoft Project Server Client Access Licenses (which enable use of Microsoft Project Web Access, a Web-based portal) work together to provide the scalable, customizable Microsoft Solution Offering for Enterprise Project Management (EPM). This solution enables portfolio and resource management, real-time reporting, and scenario analysis, offering business executives insight into the utilization of resources and the status of initiatives across their organization to facilitate informed decision-making. Because project information is shared by means of Microsoft Project Web Access, users need only have Microsoft Project Server Client Access Licenses to access information and collaborate across organizations via a Web browser.

The Microsoft Project 2002 family also includes an offering designed to meet individual project management needs. Microsoft Project Standard, which includes enhanced ease-of-use features such as the new Project Guide interactive help tool, helps business managers dynamically plan, track and manage schedules and resources, enabling them to keep projects on track and within budget.
